Monday night I was invited to talk about "cheap" wine by Linda Reznicek of Minstrel and Muse. Linda hosts her talk show on Monday evenings.
This was my first time speaking on a live audio stream. Yes, it was tough for Linda to shut me up. I did not mention all the wines I wanted due to time constraints. Below is a list of the wines I mentioned, as well as some of the wines I neglected to point out.
Note: Wines with good QPR (Quality Price Ratio) have High Quality and a Low Price.
All of the wines below are quality wines I would enjoy drinking and sharing with family and friends. They are at attractive price points, also referred to as wines having “Great QPR” *(Quality-Price Ratio). This is not a definitive list, just the list I was prepared to discuss.
QPR Whites:
McKinley Springs Viognier $16 or less
(France) Macon Lugny Les Charmes Chardonnay $10 - $15
Barnard Griffin Chardonnay, $8 - $12
(New Zealand) Dashwood Sauvignon Blanc $10 - $14
QPR Rose:
Charles & Charles Rose $9.50
QPR Sparkling:
Treveri Cellars Sparkling wine, Brut, Mueller Thurgau, Pinot Gris, $14 - $19
(Italy) Valdo Prosecco – Italy, $10 - $14
QPR Reds:
Terra Blanca, Arch Terrace Cabernet Sauvignon $14 - $18
Maryhill Winery, Winemakers Red, $7 - $12
Hedges Cellars, CMS Red $10
Boomtown Syrah $13.98
Purple Star Cabernet Sauvignon $15.95
Kestreal Lady in Red $10 - $14
Skylight Cellars Walla Walla Big Red Hiney, $11.95
McKinley Springs Cabernet Sauvignon $19
